Early Monday morning, July 22nd, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton checked into St. Mary’s hospital in Paddington, London. After a hospital stay of over 14 hours, the Palace confirmed at 4:24 pm local time that Kate had given birth to a healthy 8 pound, 6 ounce boy.
Duchess Kate gave birth in the luxurious Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital, a wing steeped in tradition. It is the same facility where Princess Diana gave birth to Prince William in 1982 as well as Prince Harry in 1984. The lavish facility has been described as “leading private obstetric and neonatal care for 60 years,” according to a report by MSN.
The wing provides each room with “a satellite TV with major international channels, a radio, safe, a bedside phone, and fridge” as well as wi-fi, complimentary toiletries and a menu that offers vegetarian, kosher, and halal meals prepared in a “dedicated kitchen,” MSN reported.
Much like the royal treatment provided at the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital, the Peggy V. Helmerich Women’s Health Center at Hillcrest has been designed for new mothers and their families to receive the best possible care.
Labor and delivery rooms, as well as postpartum rooms, are private and spacious, and help enable recovery and rest after delivery. Each room is decorated in wood tones and provides comfortable in-room guest accommodations.
Labor of Love is exclusive to Hillcrest, offering expectant mothers free pregnancy perks, including a personalized tour of the hospital, prenatal and parenting classes and gifts following the delivery of the baby including a swaddle blanket, baby’s first photo frame, and items from the personal care cart.
Prior to delivery, the Hillcrest Pregnancy Care Center provides royal care during prenatal visits as well. In order to provide excellent care for pregnant women and unborn children, the Hillcrest Pregnancy Care Center performs tests to assess the health of both mother and baby. Counseling and guidance are provided regarding weight gain, exercise, nutrition, and overall health. Free pregnancy testing is also available. Patients receive the majority of their care from their OB nurse practitioner, giving easy access to the same provider before and after delivering their baby.
In a facility close to home, patients and guests are able to receive royal treatment parallel to a royal.
